Multiple

A multiple converts an earnings figure, usually EBITDA or revenue, into enterprise value.

Mid-market buyers in DACH use a multiple to put a market yardstick on a company. An EBITDA multiple of 5 values the operating business at five times adjusted EBITDA.

Nothing published here is lifted from a table. Each band starts with Damodaran's listed-company multiple for the sector, is multiplied by a DACH discount we derive, and is then scaled by size. Public DACH reference points set the level of that discount. They are not imported as a finished range. See also Multiples Method.

Example

Adjusted EBITDA of 1.0 million euros and an EBITDA multiple of 5.5x give an enterprise value of 5.5 million euros.
